Jabra Elite 7 Pro earphones review – great quality for your music and your calls

The new Jabra Elite 7 Pro earphones are a real surprise with an even smaller form factor, great audio quality and excellent voice calls.

Priced at $299, the Jabra Elite 7 Pro earphones have a long and impressive list of features that make this a value buy.

The first thing that will get your attention is how small the earbuds are.

They are actually 16 per cent smaller than the popular Jabra Elite 75t – and in earphones that’s a big deal.

Have a smaller size, they rest more inside your ear than out. We found them to be really light and comfortable to wear.

But that smaller size doesn’t mean less features and functionality.

There’s active noise cancellation onboard that’s adjustable to suit your surroundings and your preferences.

The noise cancellation works well and you can shut you off from the rest of the world.

It’s not the best level of noise cancellation we’ve heard – to be fair the earphones with superior ANC are hundreds of dollars more expensive – but it was still more than adequate.

HearThrough is literally at your fingertips so a tap on the left earbud lets you hear your surroundings through the onboard microphones.

This is useful if you are near traffic, walking or running near a busy road and if you want to hear people around you.

If you want to order a coffee or talk to someone HearThrough lets you still hear everything around you clearly without having to take out the earphones.

Audio quality was excellent – we expected nothing less from Jabra.

The onboard 6mm custom speakers have been redesigned and improved so they minimise distortion.

There is also use an algorithm that is always adjusting and optimising the sound in real time.

You can also dive into the Jabra app to choose a preset equaliser like bass boost, treble boost, smooth and energise or you can have a go at adjusting it yourself.

This makes a slight change to the sound but it doesn’t alter it too far away from the central Jabra sound signature.

While you’re in the app you can also adjust the level of ANC – which doesn’t make much difference to the level of noise cancellation, configure the buttons and controls on the earphones and find your earphones if you’ve misplaced them.

The sound quality we heard, with Bass Boost turned on in the app’s equaliser, was nicely balanced and detailed with the nice little bass kick when necessary.

But one of our favourite features of the Jabra Elite 7 Pro was the MultiSensor Voice technology that combines the four microphones with a bone conduction sensor and an algorithm to ensure your voice is picked up accurately.

The algorithm engages the VPU (Voice Pick Up) sensor which can also reduce ambient sounds and wind noise to make you sound loud and clear on a call.

The bone conduction can also transmit your voice along your jawbone to enhance the call quality.

We used this feature quite often for our calls and was impressed with the quality which meant we could make and receive calls in comfort wearing the headphones.

The quality was so good, we used them for several of our regular radio interviews while we were out walking so not only was the voice quality clear, it also reduced our background noise.

The other impressive feature of the Jabra Elite 7 pro headphones was the battery life which ran for up to eight hours on a single charge with another 22 hours of charge left in the case.

And if you happened to be caught short with your charge, a five-minute burst gets you up to an hour of power.

The case itself is pretty small and also supports Qi charging so you can rest it on a charging mat instead of connecting the USB-C cable.

The Jabra Elite 7 Pro earphones are available now and priced at $299.

VERDICT

The Jabra Elite 7 Pro earphones offer tremendous audio quality and useful features so they can fit the modern savvy user who want to enjoy their content in high quality and also make and receive calls with that same high quality.
