There was a time when eyebrow shaping used to be about plucking them as thinly as possible, adding a little brow pencil and hey presto – a rather severe look was born!
But now, perfectly groomed eyebrows (the bigger, the better) are everywhere, and everyone from celebs to your own friends are experimenting with natural-looking brows. And for good reason.
Well-tamed and carefully shaped eyebrows can work wonders for your face; in fact, we can’t think of a better way to lift your entire look than a pair of subtly-shaped and well-filled brows framing your face! A natural, healthy and full look is definitely the trend for 2015, and there are a whole host of ways to get brow perfection.
Types of eyebrow treatments
Celebrities swear by Tracie Giles and her incredible semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos, which are applied strand by strand, require minimal maintenance and last up to two years. Starting at £495 they are an investment, but worth it considering you rarely need to reshape or fill!
If you’re looking for something on a smaller budget, we also love Benefit’s walk-in brow bars. There are 114 accross the country (in stand-alone boutiques as well as some Boots and Debenhams stores) and prices start from just £12.50 for brow arching.

How to get perfect eyebrows at home
You don’t have to spend a fortune on achieving good eyebrows, and now you can achieve a natural look from the comfort of your own bathroom! Natalie Plain, founder and CEO of Billion Dollar Brows, explains, step-by-step, how to shape your eyebrows at home below.
Start with the best brows you can Step away from the tweezers and allow them to re-grow! I recommend not touching them for at least two weeks. It’s difficult but important!
Find a good natural light source It’s much easier to assess brows when you can see all of them. Set up your mirror near a bright window.’
Choose the right tools You need good, slant-tip tweezers that grab hairs easily and do not slip off or break them.
When it comes to knowing exactly where to pluck, there are a number of brow-shaping tools you can try. Brow stencils are widely available, including Eylure Taking Shape Brow Stencils (£4.95), which have four different shapes in each pack so you can find the perfect fit for you.
We also love Billion Dollar Brows’ genius Brow Buddy Kit (£22) – a tool that allows you to discover the perfect shape for your eyebrows by mapping out three points on your face.
If you struggle to be neat, an eyebrow shaping tool could work wonders
Assess your face If your face is round, aim for a straighter brow, if you have angular features, a rounded brow will balance your face.
Where to pluck Below your brows, only pluck stragglers or hairs that fall outside the main body. This prevents permanent follicle damage to the brow hairs you need to keep. Tweeze above your brows to remove any thick, stray hairs above the arch.
Only pluck stragglers below your brows
Pick a pop of colour! Whether you prefer powder or pencil, it is important to fill in sparse spots with a flattering color. Powder is best for bald spots and pencil is great for lengthening a tail that falls short. The tail of your brow should extend just past the outermost corner of your eye.
Use light, short strokes to mimic natural brow hairs Don’t forget to blend, blend, blend!
Final touches Finish with a light gel like Billion Dollar Brow’s gentle Brow Gel to lock in your look all day long.
And that’s it! Brows are not complicated and they are easily accessible to all women. All you need is the proper products and a little practice!
