Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earphones review – great audio and built for exercise

If you can’t exercise or go to the gym without your earphones, then has Sennheiser got the product for you: the Sport True Wireless earphones.

These deliver the quality Sennheiser is known for in an earphone that can handle your intense workouts and remain comfortably in place all the while. Tech Guide been using the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless for more than a week and they tick the boxes when it comes to design, audio quality, comfort and durability.

They come with two sets of ear adaptors so you can choose to have more focus or to be more aware of your surroundings.

If you prefer spending time in the gym, the focus ear adaptors might be the best choice.

If you like to hit the road for a run or walk, the aware adaptors can allow in more of the ambient noise and make you more aware of your surroundings.

The Sennheiser True Sports Wireless earphones don’t have active noise cancellation but they do create a seal when inside your ears for a passive reduction of the ambient sound.

But those ear adaptors can also make a difference.

Design-wise, they are faithful to the Sennheiser look but they have an additional wingtip (there’s a few of them in the box to find the right fit) so it offers an even more secure fit to handle even the most rigorous exercise.

And they also have an IP54 rating for water and sweat resistance.

On the audio side, the Sennheiser earphones deliver their signature sound via the company’s onboard TrueResponse Transducer.

The acoustic system is powered by a 7mm dynamic driver and the result is a full-bodied sound that doesn’t have to be turned up loud to appreciate the quality.

And the bass is also impressive without taking over. Overall it’s a nice combination.

SennheiserTrueSport5 You can dive into equaliser on the Sennheiser Smart Control app and tweak the settings and you’ll hear an ever so slight difference.

From the app you can also customise the touch controls on the left and right earbuds.

One thing we noticed was the maximum volume seemed slightly lower than other earbuds.

We assumed this was the case so you don’t defeat the purpose of the open ear option and make it too loud to hear anything else.

The open ear adaptors are designed to give you better situational awareness.

But they’ve been designed to also eliminate some of your own noise like your footsteps and your heartbeat through the earphones but more of your surroundings.

If you’re in the gym, you have the focus option with both the ear adaptors and the Focus EQ settings. Aware also has its own EQ settings.

The Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earphones have Bluetooth 5.2 onboard with support for codecs like SBC, AAC and aptX.

The Bluetooth 5.2 also makes it easier to stay connected to mobile devices, smart watches, smart TVs and connected fitness devices.

SennheiserTrueSport13

Battery performance from the earphones themselves is a respectable nine hours with another 18 hours from the charging case.

The Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earphones go on sale on May 3 and are priced at $199.95.

VERDICT

The Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earphones offers customers comfort and excellent audio quality along with the ability to switch between focus and aware modes depending on the type of exercise they want to do. Truly versatile and built specifically for athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
